Beck Parent Pickup Plan

Monday, June 8, 2020 – Wednesday, June 10, 2020

Dear Beck Centennial Parents,

This week the teachers and I are working to prepare your child(s) belongings for pickup next week. While you will see cars in the parking lot, please know that we are following social distancing guidelines provided by the Governor’s order. Similar to our food distributions, we ask that you remain in your cars during the picking up of your child’s belongings, as well as the returning of school supplies such as textbooks, library books, safety patrol belts, etc.

Looking ahead to next week, we would like to share our plan for parent pickup of student belongings and returning of materials.  Due to our large number of families, we need to stagger pickup times based on your Family’s Last Name. Please follow the schedule of times Listed below:

  • Therefore, if your family’s last name is “Smith”, you could come at the following times:
    • June 8, 2020 between 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
    • June 9, 2020 between 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
    • June 10, 2020 between 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.

When arriving during your timeframe, please follow these guidelines:

1.  We ask that parents arrive by car, with windows and doors remaining closed throughout the process.

2. Please make a sign for your right-side windshield window with:

  • Your family’s Last Name in BIGbolddark lettering,
  • The number of children at our school and grades   (i.e.  Smith Grades 1 , 3)

3. Cars need to follow these directions to create a car line around the Beck Elementary parking lot:

  • When arriving at Beck Centennial Elementary, please utilize the farthest north driveway to enter the parking lot  (Usually only used for EXITING)
  • Make an immediate right turn and proceed slowly south
  • At the end of that portion of the parking lot, you’ll make a sharp left turn to be along the curb in front of the building

4. Show the sign with your family’s name and number of children.  When you are near the front curb area, a staff member will view the sign in your window, walkie talkie your name and number of children to an employee within the building who will collect your child/ren’s belongings and deliver the bag/s of belongings to your trunk.  From here you’ll be directed to a numbered parking space near the front door.

5. Please have your trunk open. If your trunk does not automatically open from the inside of your car, then please use proper social distancing to step outside of your car and be prepared to open your trunk. Then, please return to the driver’s seat and proceed with caution.

6. If you have any materials that you need to return to the school, please have those items already in your trunk in a labeled bag (i.e. “Library Books,” “Lily Smith’s ELA Book”, etc.).  If you have multiple children, please utilize individual bags for your children so that we may sort the materials easier.

7. One employee will put the bag/s of your child/ren’s belongings in your trunk and another employee will collect any properly marked bags and close your trunk for you.

8. Yearbooks – If you purchased a yearbook, you will stop and pick that up at the station at the far north end of the parking lot.  Again, hold up your family’s name sign.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Please remain patient throughout this process and we will do our best to keep the car line moving smoothly.
  • If, upon returning home, you find someone else’s belongings mixed in with your child’s, please call the school.
  • If you are unable to come during your assigned time, please contact the school.

If you have any questions or concerns with this process, please feel free to contact the school at (586)797-3900.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Wilson
